Statement of Faith

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that the Holy Scriptures, as originally given by God, are divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and constitute the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; we affirm his virgin birth, sinless humanity, divine miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, ongoing mediatorial work, and personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful man lies through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit enables believers to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that the Church, the body of Christ, consists of all true believers.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved resurrecting to life eternal; the lost resurrecting to damnation.
  • We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively a union between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is to occur exclusively within that union.
  • We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God another with a pure heart fervently.
  • We believe that gender is assigned by God at birth and the Holy Scripture does not permit an individual from altering their sexual identity physically or otherwise.
  • We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of UCB Canada as an arm of the broader Christian Church, and to provide a biblical role model to the Body of Christ and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by UCB Canada in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by biblical teachings on marriage, gender, and sexuality.
  • We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity and that hateful and harassing behaviour or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the Church.
  • We believe we must dedicate ourselves to the service of our Lord and to His authority for our lives.
  • We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ must be spread to all peoples everywhere using every means of communication available to us.
